Just a side comment, but this was Vince's first tour sans Bruce and by this point about 100 shows under his belt, I am really surprised at how limited his range was in terms of creating interesting leads for the keyboard. Iko kicks off solidly, if unspectactularly followed by a great Estimated>Same Thing. I like that inside the bubble feel but the sound itself seems low through most of the set. This version appears to be the monitor mix as brief comments like "quarter", "hold it", etc are heard through the music. Not exactly a ringing endorsement I know, but this set 2 only SBD of 6/6/92 shows the Dead competently performing a good set list of music. I apologize for being harsh, but Vince and Jerry are both gone, and the above comments are far less disrespectful than what people are saying about Vince. if you're looking for someone to blame, look at Jerry. Vince did the best he could under the circumstances. Sure his tunes weren't the best, but that's what most people thought about Brent's songs, so that's an unfair criticism. If he was guilty of anything, it was that unlike Brent, his energy failed to pull Jerry out of his junked-out stupor for moments of inspired jamming. It's not Vince's fault that Jerry was a junkie. I think he gets used as a scapegoat by most heads who can't face the fact that JERRY'S USE OF HEROIN IS WHAT FUCKED UP THE BAND. Still, they've played worse shows than this one, even when Brent was around. Signs of life in the Space>Other One, other than that, the encore is the best part of the show (if you're ok with The Dead covering The Who, I'm still not sure.lol).
